Definitely going to wear these two together.

Possibly obsessed with burgundy for fall/winter. Got this a while back, but never put it  in a post.

my weekend in toronto

I was in TO last weekend with my dad. We took in a Leafs game and did some shopping! We headed down last Friday. Here’s some pics from the weekend.

Yorkdale Shopping Centre – the ceiling decorations were so pretty! Thanks to my aunt for taking us.

Aunt made me try on a bajillion different coats (some crazy ones too), but I liked this one a lot from Zara.

We spent quite a while in Yorkdale since I was looking for a  dress for a winter formal dance coming up at school. After lunch my aunt and I left my dad and uncle to shop. I was excited to go to Brandy Melville which I don’t have anywhere near me. I found a cute suede-feel burgundy skirt for $30. I like a lot of Brandy’s clothes, but it depends what store you go into. I also think some of the stuff is overpriced, so I try to hold back.

I ended up finding a pretty dress at Dynamite which you will see soon! It’s not too formal that I can’t wear it again, which I like.

Later in the day my dad and I settled into our hotel and then headed to the Real Sports store before dinner. It was super busy in there since it was game night. There were so many Leafs merch I wanted, but it was SO overpriced. A t-shirt for $45? I don’t think so. I finally decided on a warm Leafs toque with a cute pompom on it :)

A guy proposed to his girlfriend in the row in front of us – look at Carlton the bear…so cute.

It was impossible to walk around during the intermissions, but we managed to make to another corner of the arena and I managed to take this pic :)

Leafs won 4-2 :) It was awesome to see the players in the flesh.

We stayed until mid-Sunday and then endured a rainy 4-ish hour ride home. I do not enjoy driving to TO!

*Check back soon for a collective haul if you want to see what I got in Toronto*

random hauling

Here’s some of the things I’ve bought in the past month or so that don’t really have any relation!

Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear Nail Color in 280 Marine Scene

I was browsing in the beauty section of Walmart and saw a shelf of this line of nail polishes for only $2.77. I couldn’t resist. It’s more of a  pretty teal colour in real life. Will be wearing it on my nails next week.

Found this with a friend at a 50% off day at our local thrift store. It was in decent condition and was only $2.50!

Where Things Come Back – John Corey Whaley

172 Hours on the Moon – Johan Harstad

I love reading and haven’t bought any new books in a long time, so I decided to treat myself. Read good reviews on both books on Goodreads and I am excited to start them soon (hopefully on a day where I have little homework, if that ever happens).

I decided to include some music I have acquired recently as well. My friend bought the new Arctic Monkey’s album AM and shared it with me (thank you thank you) The album is amazing. I also bought The Killer’s new single “Shot At The Night” from their upcoming “best of collection” album. The song is produced by M83 and sounds great. Also been listening to the 1975’s debut album and loving it!

And that’s it for this short blog post. An outfit and styling post coming soon.

want list: printed & moto pants

I think printed and moto pants are perfect for the fall (or any season really). They make outfits more interesting and they’re easy to pair with a simple top.

ImageZara TRF Printed Trousers

J. Crew Toothpick Jean

I think the pants from Zara are so cute. I need those!

I also think skinny cargo/moto pants look really cool too.

ImageH&M Cargo Jeans

Image

Abercrombie Lara Pant

My friend has a pair of green ones from Zara and they look great on her. The ones above are similar as Danielle’s from WeWoreWhat (check out her post here) I do prefer the detailing on her jeans over the H&M ones though. I especially like the ones from A&F!

august (back to school) collective haul

I’ve already done quite a bit of shopping in Toronto and Ottawa, but I decided to pick up a few more things for back to school when I went away to Montreal. My mom also just came back from NYC a couple days ago and bought some clothing for me there as well! Thanks mom.

Here they are!

ImageCropped hooded denim vest from LiME (brand: Last Kiss) – $25

Osheaga tee – $35

Polka dot button up – $12.99

Stay Weird muscle tee – $18

I was especially happy when I found the Stay Weird top at Brandy Melville. I think it’s really cool and the store at Yorkdale Mall in Toronto didn’t have it. The Brandy store on St. Catherines had much more selection than Yorkdale – I was impressed. I debated on buying a skirt from there, but I couldn’t justify $30 for OK quality material. ImageImage

I love this shirt. I tend to have a preppy side to my style and I’ve been looking for some classic button ups (which I don’t have to spend a ton of money on, aka Abercrombie) I love wearing navy, which I have a habit of buying all my clothes in.

Image

And here is my beloved hooded denim vest I mentioned in a past post! I’ve been looking for one for the past couple months and finally found one I liked for the right price and quality.

Image

ImageLove the back of the shirt!

Probably my favourite shirt from this haul. :) It was $35 which was quite expensive, but it’s a festival. Things are going to be overpriced. I was pleasantly surprised when I found that the tshirt was American Apparel. At least the quality is there!

Now on to the stuff my mother picked up in New York. I only asked her to pick up a I Heart NY shirt (no pic…but it looks like all the others) and Celia Birtwell Shorts from UniqloThey are patterned, high waisted flowy shorts that look like a skirt when they are on. I bought a pair back in NYC during March Break and loved them. I had originally wanted them in the black and white floral pattern, but there were none left. I was happy with the one she did get me though.

Image

NHL Goalie mask tee – ?

Aritzia TNA leggings – around $20

Uniqlo Celia Birtwell shorts in Gray floral – $19.90

photo 1photo 3

I was only expecting the shorts and NY shirt, but she surprised me with a cool NHL tshirt and TNA leggings. Now I can say I own something from Aritzia…haha. Some of their stuff is really cute, but the prices, not so much.

ImageImage

I think this shirt is an exclusive to the New York City NHL Store since the tag inside read “Reebok New York City” The tshirt is awesome. I’ll definitely be wearing it during the season. Anyone who knows me knows I am a Leafs fan. No shame!

Hope you enjoyed seeing this haul of my new clothing. I will definitely be taking a break on the shopping for a while! Look out for lots of OOTDs (or even OOTWs) with these pieces once school starts!

*New post tomorrow*

Recap: osheaga day 2

We lucked out again on Saturday – no rain (except for a bit during Imagine Dragons) We weren’t really interested in seeing any of the earlier acts that day, so we decided to hit up St. Catherines again since we didn’t walk much of it the day before. We went into a few different shoe stores and I made sure we made it to Brandy Melville (where I was determined to buy something!) My friend had never been there before and was very impressed with the store, so naturally she walked out with quite a bit. I ended up getting the Stay Weird top which I had been looking for originally in Toronto. I was satisfied! I was contemplating on a floral skirt as well, but it was $30 and I felt like I didn’t want to spend that much on it. After a couple more stores, we went our separate ways to get lunch. I ended up getting a meal from Kojax (yum, Greek!) and while my mom and I walked back on St. Catherines to the hotel…guess who we spotted? Maxime! We were both surprised and said a quick hello. I couldn’t get over how I met the guy who had the same Chevrolet bracelet as me outside of Osheaga. What are the odds? It definitely made my day!

After finishing up lunch, my mom and I looked for the subway in the Underground City (interconnected complexes in downtown Montreal) We passed by a clothing store called Lime and when I looked in I saw a bunch of denim vests. I had been looking for one for a while, but I hadn’t found the right one for the right price (yet) I saw one with a grey hood attached which was cute and for $25. Not the best price, but the others I had seen had been more so I settled for that one.

Later we headed to Parc Jean-Drapeau in time to hear some of the last songs performed in Jimmy Eat World’s set. We all walked around to the other side of the island to explore and entered the Chevy contest again (my friend found a guy with the same bracelet, but he wasn’t bothered and gave it to me!) After my friend and I walked over to the Air Miles tent and showed them my mom’s card so we could get a free Polaroid taken! :) Our moms were back at the Chevy tent entering since they’d also found a match, so my friend and I headed back to the main stages to catch the last bits of Stars’ set. I loved when they played Hold on When You Get Love and Let Go When You Give It at the end (Yes, long song name) We stood in the crowd of the opposite stage since Tegan and Sara were playing next! We also wanted to stay on that side because Imagine Dragons were playing an hour after T and S.

Tegan and Sara were awesome and I especially loved How Come You Don’t Want Me Now and Alligator. I was annoyed partly during the set since the guy in front of me smoked at least 4 cigarettes in that hour…and the smoke drafted into my direction of course. After they finished, my friend and I pushed as much as we could near the front (which was very difficult!) We don’t really like to be rude. Thankfully two taller guys in front of us let us stand in front of them. I was thankful until everyone around us (including the two guys) starting smoking pot. The smell was intoxicating and it was a big turn-off for my friend and I. I was also very squished as we waited and I could barely move in the hour waiting for K-os to end (I was very unimpressed with his set, I have to say). After what seemed like a long, long time, Imagine Dragons were finally on! I was so excited.

They were phenomenal. Throughout the whole performance their energy was amazing, especially Dan’s. He had a huge bass drum which he used quite frequently through the show and it was awesome. The number of crowd surfers during On Top of the World was crazy though – my friend and I were so paranoid that we’d get crushed or hit on the head (crowd surfers in my opinion were a big downside in the standing area) Besides that, their set was probably my favourite from the entire weekend. I was a bit bummed they didn’t get to play Bleeding Out, but Amsterdam and Tiptoe were my favourites. They were great performers and interacted with the crowd. At the end they threw their drumsticks into the crowd and a girl behind us caught the one that Dan threw (after it hit her friend on the head) If only we had been a bit farther back!

After Macklemore & Ryan Lewis were playing, but I wasn’t all that interested in going into the crowd, so my friend went with her mom. I’m not really a big fan of rap, but I don’t mind it. I admit, after seeing Macklemore, I like him a little bit better. He was an amazing performer and interacted with the crowd the most from what I had seen the whole weekend. My favourite performance was Same Love, where he invited Tegan and Sara onstage to sing with him. It’s a really catchy song too.

Image

Overall, Macklemore surprised me and I was more impressed with his set that I had thought I would be!

After he left, we also did. My feet were on fire from the pain of standing in the crowds for 3+ hours (and we weren’t all that interested in seeing Beck’s whole set), so we took the Metro back to the hotel and grabbed a late dinner.

my southern ontario trip: st. catharines & niagara falls

The day after the concert, my family and I left to see more of Southern Ontario. Before heading to St. Catharines, my dad took us to the University of Guelph and McMaster University so I could tour some of the campuses to help me decide where I wanted to apply when grade 12 came around. U of Guelph’s track was beautiful and it’s a big running school (yay!), but I really enjoyed McMaster’s campus and Hamilton seems like a nice city.

After, we headed down to St. Catharines to check into our hotel.

The next day we drove to Niagara Falls (which was only 20 minutes away, yay). I hadn’t been there since I was 4 or 5. The weather was nice and it was a great day to see the Falls. My dad, my sister, and I took a ride to the top of the Skylon Tower.

The view was awesome!

We were all hungry after that and I was craving Italian, so we walked until we came across Romano’s Macaroni Grill. I ordered the Meat Lover’s Pizza. Yum! The food was really good, but I can’t say the same about the service. There were only three other tables filled and our server took forever. Disappointing. Later we decided to take a look in the Niagara Falls outlets. My mom and I went to the Coach outlet to just browse at what we couldn’t have…and then we both left with a purse. The store had a 50% off special, so my purse ended up being $150. Still pricey, but I was in need of a new bag that would last. I don’t regret buying it. It can convert into a cross-body which I like and the colour is beautiful.

“Coach Legacy Leather Mini Willis” in Bright Coral

After some dinner at the hotel, we decided to a bit of shopping at the Pen Centre in St. Catharines. The mall was quite nice and I was especially happy because they had Campus Crew (I live near very few) I loved the NHL hoodies they had there, but I was not willing to pay full price. Everything else was on sale and I ended up buying a pair of white cutoffs for $12.99! Our last stop was Winners and I wasn’t expecting anything great. I was surprised when I found a knock-off Brandy Melville “I Love You to the Moon and Back” crop top for $12.99. I was happy!

*stay tuned for my collective haul post on monday!*
